Diler Iron and Steel's Environmental Management Approach

Diler Iron and Steel carries out its activities by taking into account environmental impacts, adaptation to climate change, and risks and opportunities in these areas. Management of environmental activities is carried out within the scope of the Integrated Management Systems Policy. In line with this policy; compliance with national and international legislation, prevention of environmental pollution, sustainable resource utilization, adaptation to climate change, protection of ecosystems and continuous improvement of environmental performance are committed. Environmental management is provided by the Environmental Unit under the Environment and OHS Department, which undertakes responsibilities such as compliance with environmental legislation, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies, waste management, investigation of environmental accidents and assessment of environmental risks. In addition, new environmental technologies and Best Available Techniques (BATs) are researched and system development projects are carried out. Diler Iron and Steel's Rod Rolling Mill and Wire Rod Rolling Mill facilities have ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certification. Within this framework, environmental performance is monitored, measured and reported. In 2023, the Company spent TL 51,510,687 on environmental protection activities. Cmpany carries out Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emission reduction activities by monitoring emission data at the Bar Rolling Mill, Wire Rod Rolling Mill and DNA PC Strand & Wire facilities. 2021 has been accepted as the base year and a 50% reduction in Scope 1 emissions and a 30% reduction in Scope 2 emissions is targeted for 2024. For 2030, Scope 2 emissions are planned to be net zero. The Company continues its efforts to achieve these targets in order to limit global warming. Energy Management In order to increase energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption, Diler Iron and Steel implements the ISO 50001 Energy Management System. The Company aims to reduce its carbon footprint through various energy efficiency projects. Renewable energy is utilized with the rooftop SPP installed at DNA facilities, while projects to reduce energy consumption are also carried out at other facilities. For example, SPP projects are ongoing in Kars, Konya and Ağrı provinces. In addition, the Company is transitioning to environmentally friendly electric construction equipment and aims to reduce energy consumption by 5% by 2030 through energy consumption projects. Waste Management and Circular Economy Diler Iron and Steel adopts an effective waste management and circular economy approach. In all facilities, waste is separated and sent to recovery or recycling facilities within the framework of the Zero Waste Management Regulation. The Company recovers valuable process wastes such as chimney dust and slag and utilizes these wastes as input materials in different sectors. In 2023, waste recovery rates were significantly increased. Water Management In the iron and steel industry, water is used extensively for processes such as cooling, cleaning and steam generation. Diler Iron and Steel develops projects to increase efficiency in water management and reduce environmental impact. In the Rod Rolling Mill and Wire Rod Rolling Mill facilities, various improvements have been made to reduce water consumption; processes for water recovery and reuse are implemented. Efficient use of water is ensured through water treatment and recycling systems, and it is aimed to reuse wastewater. Biodiversity Before each new project, Diler Iron and Steel assesses the impact of the project area on biodiversity and obtains the necessary EIA opinions from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. Project areas are kept away from areas with sensitive biodiversity, contributing to sustainable development.
